Bluenose Ridge is the cultural capital of the Republic of Checkland and serves as a centre of Nova Scotian heritage and tradition. With its population being entirely of Nova Scotian origin, the province plays a significant role in preserving and promoting the customs, history, and identity brought from Nova Scotia.

Beyond its cultural importance, Bluenose Ridge has been a major legislative and social influence within the Republic. The province has contributed significantly to national discussions surrounding Checkland’s identity, traditions, and cultural development, helping shape aspects of the Republic’s national character.

Bluenose Ridge was also responsible for introducing the change of the national anthem to “The Mist Covered Mountains of Home”, a decision made to recognize and honour the Scottish heritage of the many Nova Scotians who form a significant part of Checkland’s population.
